Muddy Boot Organic Festival Keynote Address with Curt Ellis & Ian Cheney

Please join us for the Muddy Boot Organic Festival 2010 Keynote Address by filmmakers and food and agriculture policy advocates Curt Ellis and Ian Cheney, with Mark Edlen of Gerding Edlen Development Company providing the opening remarks.

The Keynote Address kicks off the fifth annual MuddyBoot Organic Festival, “A Soulful Celebration of Sustainable Living,” September 10-12, 2010.

Artists and advocates Ian Cheney and Curt Ellis are the co-creators of the Peabody-Award-winning PBS documentary "King Corn," the Sundance Channel documentary "The Greening of Southie," and the Planet Green documentary "Big River." They have been featured on NPR, CNN and Good Morning America and in the Huffington Post, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and New Yorker's “Talk of the Town.” Ian and Curt earned their degrees from Yale University and now collaborate through the Brooklyn-based organization they founded, Wicked Delicate.

When not speaking at the Muddy Boot Organic Festival Keynote Address, Ian is busy editing his upcoming film release on light pollution, "The City Dark," and Curt is engaged in a planning process to develop the AmeriCorps school garden program, FoodCorps.

Curt and Ian’s newest collaboration, "Truck Farm," is both a documentary about urban agriculture and an urban food project: a mobile community farm, planted right in the bed of a pickup truck in Brooklyn, New York. The festivities will continue September 11 and 12 in a bustling
sustainability-themed Outdoor Festival featuring live music; sustainably
produced food, beer and wine; information booths and vendors selling green
goods; educational workshops; discussion panels and fun activities for
families and children. The theme of this year’s festival is “Nourishing
Spirit: City to Farm.” Admission to the Outdoor Festival is $5/day per
person 12 and over (pay at the gate). Kids 11 and under are free.

The Muddy Boot Organic Festival’s mission is to promote sustainable living practices within our local communities, thereby enhancing the health of our world, our neighborhoods and ourselves.
